In 1992, a fierce storm struck a cargo ship crossing the Pacific Ocean. Fourteen containers tumbled into the sea.
One of them carried 28,000 rubber ducks, along with a handful of other small bath toys.
Another contained sealed barrels of a strange, glowing substance known as Starlight Serum.
When the containers sank, they drifted apart—but by incredible luck, two of them came to rest side by side on the ocean floor.
For days, the deep sea remained quiet. And then… something unexpected happened.
The barrels cracked open.
A radiant, shimmering light spilled into the water. The rubber ducks began to absorb the magic…
Soon, other ducks awakened as well—each changed in different ways.
Some transformed only slightly.
Some changed dramatically.
And a few of the other animal toys absorbed the starlight, too.
The newly awakened ducks rose to the surface, carried upward by waves and light.
When they reached open water,
the ocean currents scattered them across the world.
Some traveled thousands of miles. Some vanished onto faraway shores. Each carried a unique piece of the magic.
